Temperature sensors are devices that measure temperature known as a Thermocouple or a RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector).
The modern thermocouple derived from Seebeck’s discovery and consists of two dissimilar metal conductors joined at one end forming an electrical junction. When the junction is heated, a temperature-dependent voltage is created that is interpreted to provide a temperature reading. For many industrial heating processes, particularly at higher temperatures, a thermocouple is most accurate, convenient and a simple method of temperature measurement. The thermocouple must be connected to an external electronic device (temperature controller) that interprets the created voltage to provide a temperature measurement.
An RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) device’s resistance changes as the device is heated or cooled. The resistance versus temperature relationship is well known and temperature readings are accurately repeatable over time. The RTD must be connected to an external electronic device (temperature controller) that interprets the measured resistance to provide a temperature measurement.
Thermocouples can be supplied in various shapes, sizes, materials of construction, and termination options depending on the intended temperature application. Thermocouples are generally categorized by temperature (100-1600° Celsius) and thermocouple conductors are colour-coded for recognition in accordance with international standards. Our sales team will gladly assist with the selection and application suitability of the required sensors.
Resistance temperature detectors (Pt100 RTDs) can be supplied in various shapes, sizes, materials of construction, and termination options depending on the intended application. RTDs are generally low temperature measurement devices, measuring between 0-200° Celsius.
HI-TECH Elements provides a standard range of HOT ROD® RTDs however our sales team will gladly assist with the selection and application suitability of any other required sensors.
View Standard RangeInstruments refer to the device (Temperature Controller) that the temperature sensor (Thermocouple/RTD) will be connected to for measuring the temperature of the application. The instrument enables you to set specific temperatures and control the heating source (Elements) at predetermined temperatures.
HI-TECH Elements offers a broad and diverse range of temperature measuring instrumentation from simple on/off temperature control to sophisticated process controllers that deliver predictable and repeatable temperature control confidence. Contact our technical team for assistance with instrument selection and application suitability.
Control systems are an integral part of any heating application as the control system manages, commands, directs or regulates the behaviour of the system devices through control loops. The control system can range from a single temperature controller for simple on/off temperature regulation to large industrial systems used for controlling complex processes and machines.
HI-TECH Elements offer a basic range of on/off control systems however the possibilities are endless, and it’s therefore recommended that our sales team is consulted to address the specific requirements and possibilities in more detail.
